Mt. Dorje Lhakpa (6,966M/22,854FT),

Mt. Dorje Lhakpa (6,966M/22,854FT), Nepal Government official Peak ID ‘DORJ’ situated in Jugal Himalayan range and just North-east from Langtang valley. Dorje Lhakpa also known as Dorje Lyakpa. It is in Nepal-Tibet border south of an 8000ers mountain Mt. Shishapangma (8,013M). Dorje Lhakpa visible also from Kathmandu valley towering to the North with an elegant pyramid-shaped figure. It is coordinate in 2801026” latitude and 850 46 52” longitude inside the territory of Nepal.  The first attempt was in the late 1960s through the west ridge by a Japanese Expedition team although successful summited has recorded by Japanese climbers Kunio Kataoka, Makoto Anbe, Kazunari Murakami, Eiichi Shingyoji and Pemba Tsering Sherpa in 18 October 1981. Thereafter, it has been attempting by different expedition team. A German-Nepalese Expedition team leading by Klaus Stark, Helmut Muller, Thomas Oeser, Mathias Rau, Bernd Mayer, from Turner-Alpen-Kranzchen T.A.K. was done in 1986. Another memorable expedition was made by a 7-member Italian team in 1989 from the west ridge was stopped due to unstable avalanche and snow. The solo climb was done by Carlos Buhler in 1992.

Mt. Dorje Lhakpa 6,966M/22,854FT height is considered a medium reange of technical climbing required to establish three high camp for successful summit. Ropes will fix in favorable places. The first Camp will be set at an altitude of 5,400M/17,717FT and Camp II on 6,100M/20,013FT. The Camp III depend on upcoming climate situation between Camp II and summit about 6,400M to 6,650M.    Snowpal’s Professional and experienced guides start to open the route to camp I. Our guides take clients and loads from Base Camp to Camp I considering your health/physical fitness and weather condition. Our Nepalese supporting team open the climbing route to Camp II and supply the equipment, gear and food to push the summit form Camp II and if need set up the camp II too. Guides and team check the weather condition, if it will allow, you will attempt early in the morning before 03 AM for summit push.

Dorje Lhakpa Expedtion require almost one month time in average. We start the trip driving from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi about 7 to 8 hour and start walking to Dorje Lhakpa Base Camp. We follow the same path of Langtang valley/ Kenjing Gompa trekking trail. The first day of trekking goes to Lama Hotel, second day to Langtang village, third day to Kinjing Gompa, Fourth day Tsergo-Ri (5,033M/16,512FT) peak climb for acclimatization and return back to Kenjing Gompa, Fifth day to Yak Kharka and sixth day we reach in Dorje Lhakpa Base Camp.

Our Supporting team and Expedition crew set up the Base Camp site as soon arrive in Base Camp. We make essential health checkup and place in order all the climbing gear. We do plenty of rehearsal at Base Camp to make successful summit of Dorje Lhakpa. After Breakfast first we check all the trekking and Peak climbing equipment and if missing some of trekking/peak climbing gear, we can buy during the sightseeing. Full day sightseeing proceeds to the prominent UNESCO world heritage site to Syambhunath Stupa the Buddhist sanctuary said to be nearly 2000 years old. The hill itself is pleasant place overlooking the entire valley of Kathmandu. The all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha painted in prominent blue atop the dome are visible from long distance from around the Kathmandu city. Then proceed to Kathmandu Durbar Square where can visit the Living Goddes Kumari who appear on the balcony of her temple to greet her devotees, Kastamandap temple (constructed after collapsed in earthquake in 25 April 2014), the temple made out of single tree and named Kathmandu as it was known as Kantipur in earlier times. The drive from Kathmandu to Trekking starting point at the foot of the Langtang Valley takes approx 8 hours.  The road follows with a spectacular views of village life of middle hill mountain. Climbing high over the ridges to escape the Kathmandu Valley and providing us with a superb panorama of the Himalaya, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region that we will soon become better acquainted with you. First section drive to Trisuli before quite dirt road to the National park and police checkpost on the edge of the bustling trading town of Dhunche (2030m) and second section gradually down to Syabru besi (1510m).

The trail initially crosses the Bhote Kosi, flowing down from Tibet, literally a few kilometers away, and then gradually climbs up throuch the sub- tropical forests, teeming with bird- life, to join the trail from Syabru. We then follow the river, climbing through uninhabited forest of oak and rhododendron and may be catching a glimpse of langur monkeys roaming through the trees. We climb along a steep trail to Lama Hotel.

As we continue climbing there are occasional glimpses of Langtang lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela (3000m), the trail emerges from the forest. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project here but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery which we can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighbouring villages are of the flat- roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley.

The trail climbs gradually through small villages and Yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. It is a dramatic setting, with snow covered peaks surrounding us in all directions.

Today to explore around Kinjing Gompa/ Experience on high elevation climbing Tsergo Ri peak and explore the alpine vegetation and people. Kyangjin Gompa is the most important and the largest Gompa in the Langtang valley. The building is not the large, but the location is picturesque. The Gompa follows the traditions of the Nyingma-pa sects and that means Guru Rimpoche, the founder of this oldest school, holds pride of place.

There are a number of trips/day hike that can be made from Kyagjin but most trekkers do Kyanjin Ri (4440m/) or Tsergo Ri (5033m/16,512ft) or also some people do the long hike towards Langshisa Kharka. Walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m), directly behind the village for a breath – taking panorama of the Langtang peaks. Along with the great outstanding views of Himalayan peaks Sishaangma, Langshisa Ri, Nayakanga, Yala peak, Yubra Himal, Langtang Lirung, you can see the Himalayan peasants, Himalayan deer and hundreds of many more white peaks.

Overnight in Kyagjin Gompa (3850m/12631ft) in a Mountain Lodge

Spending a full acclimatization day in kenjin Gompa, we start to walk straightly with amazing view of Mt. Langshisha, Mt. Langtang Lirung, Mt. Gyanja-La peak, Yala Peak, Tsergo-Ri peak and alpine vegetation. Our tended camp set-up in wide yak pasture land locally said Yak Kharka where herd of yaks seems grazing around.

As usual after having Breakfast, we dismantle the camp site and get things together then proceed to Dorje Lhakpa Base Camp at the height of 4,950M/16,240FT where our fixed Base camp will set-up for expedition period.

We are almost in (5000M/16,404FT) height. We need to update our body in thin air means in lower oxygen level. A full day we will read/ write diary/, Let’s do Yoda and meditation/, stretch the body, or any other activities you have skilled, Our staff will participate with you, mentally be prepared for high elevation and to goal the project successfully to be on top of Mt. Dorje Lhakpa (6,966M/22,854FT).

Pre-climbing training will be conduct at ‘DORJ” Base Camp (4,950M/16,240FT).  Our climbing guide trains the techniques of climbing, safety rule at glacier and ways of using and handing climbing gear such as the ice axe, climbing boots, crampons, harness ascender etc. If you are already experienced and well-trained mountaineers then it is not compulsory to take part in training session. Our main aim is to assist and guide the beginners who are willing to climb various peaks considering the safety measures in mind and we assure that it will boost the climbers to increase the confidence and climbing skill. The day will spend hiking to high camp and back to Base camp to prepare mentally/physically for the successful summit.

Final destination of this trip will be an amazing day. We attempt to make a successful summit during this climbing period. The summit day will be a great day to achieve the goal of this trip. We try to be on top as soon early in the morning as possible on summit day for a stunning view of sunrise in the Himalaya. From the summit of Dorje Lhakpa, we can observe the Tibetan plateau along with long Himalayan range. Taking some memorable snap of photos and videos, we return back to Base camp.

 

The extra contingency day/additional day has added and reserved to make the project successful if any reason like bad weather or our client health condition, we preserved an additional to make the project successful.

 

The day of summit of Dorje Lhakpa (6,966M/22,854FT), start about 03 AM from Camp III (6,500M/ 21,325FT) having breakfast before proceeding to summit the peak. We need to start very early because of strong winds and day sunlight of the mid-day may become obstacle for the successful summit. Fixed rope usually will be 500m to 700m though the length of rope depends on season and the situation of mountain. Normally Dorje Lhakpa require the ladder to cross crevasse. A steep snow slop leads us onto the Summit ridge but comparatively beautiful and amazing walk. The 360-degree spectacular Panoramic view of hundreds of snowcapped mountains including Mt.Shishapangma (8,027M/26,335FT), Mt. Gauri Shankar (7,145M/23,442FT), and long range of Himalayas. Snapshots dozens of photographs and incredible videos from the summit than we retrace to the base camp where some of crew of our team are waiting making delicious food and cake to celebrate a happy night on your successful Dorje Lhakpa summit.

Driving up and down through mountain road to  the historical and beautiful city of Kathmandu Valley and providing us with a superb panorama of the Himalaya, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region in backward, we will reach Kathmandu late afternoon.

Today is your leisure day for cleaning, shopping and sightseeing depends in your interest. If you prefer any specific day tour like cycling, One hour Everest scenic flight early in the morning, City tour by car with guide etc… Just let us know.
