Itinerary of Island Peak Climb (6,189M/20,305FT)

Overnight in hotel on BB Basis

After Breakfast full day sightseeing proceeds to world heritage site to Syambhunath Stupa The Buddhist sanctuary said to be nearly 2000 years old. The hill itself is pleasant place overlooking the entire valley of Kathmandu. The all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha painted in prominent blue atop the dome are visible from long distance from around the Kathmandu city. Then proceed to patan durbar squar also call Lalitpur the city full of fine arts. It covers the dozens of temples like Krishna Mandir, Kumbeswor temple, Golden temle. Next site proceeds to Pashupatinath Temple the holiest Hindu Temple situated on the bank of sacred holy river Bagmati. Sightseeing continues to the Boudhanath Stupa the biggest Stupa around inhabited by Tibetan Refugee since 1959AD. The day ends at Kathmandu Durbar Squar where can visti the Living Goddes Kumari who appear on the balcony of her temple to greet her devotees, Kastamandap temple (Though now it is under reconstruction process after collapsed in earthquake in 25 April 2014), the temple made out of single tree and named Kathmandu as it was known as Kantipur in earlier times. Kathmandu Durbar Squar cover dozens of temples concluding Kumari temple, Hanuman Dhoka, Maizu dewal, Taleju temple, Nautale Durbar, Kaal Bhairav, freak street and many more.

Breakfast served in the early morning and drive to Kathmandu airport for your domestic flight to Lukla. It’s takes approximately 25 minutes. There’ll be time to explore the village whilst the Sherpa crew sort and load equipment. From Lukla we descend on a wide trail northwest to the village of Chomlung in the Dudh Kosi valley. The valley radiates energy through beautiful pine and rhododendron forest. The walking is easy and we follow the river’s course, passing through the village of Ghat. Our destination is the small village of Phakding.

After the breakfast, we start our journey to Namche Bazaar, from Phakding we head up valley on a busy trail. Continue along beside the Dudh Kosi amongst beautiful alpine scenery, through the fragrant blue pine and fir forest, glimpsing spectacular views of Kusum Kangru (6369m) and Thanserku (6608m) along the way. Our lunch spot in Monjo, Leaving Monjo, we again cross the Dudh Kosi, to the western bank at Jorsale prior to trekking through the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. Continuing upstream along the banks to the confluence of the Bhote Kosi and Dudh Kosi, it is here we begin our first sustained ascent to Namche Bazaar after crossing the large suspension bridge. Walking at a slow pace, we have a fantastic photographic opportunities as the peaks of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8511m), Nuptse (7879m), Ama Dablam (6856m) and Taweche (6542m) come into view for the first time. Climbing again, the path takes us through pine trees to reach the distinctive horse- shoe shaped bowl containing the village of Namche Bazaar. Stay in the heart of the village, with the afternoon free to bargain in the shops for “Tibeta artifacts, relax over a cup of tea and talk with our experienced Trekking guides and simply marvel at the beautiful scenery.

Full day to acclimatize Exploring Namche and Sherpa culture. Wake up early in the morning and  climb to the ridge above Namche will be rewarded with the stunning sunrise over the panorama of the Khumbu peaks. Namche is famous for its local market or bazaar. Each week, Sherpas from the surrounding villages come to buy food and to socialize. Any food not grown locally, such as rice, corn and some vegetables is brought in from the lowland village, which can be up to a 6-10 day walk from Jiri. Spend the morning exploring this colorful and lovely spectacle. Perhaps walk along the Thame Valley in the afternoon or visit the National Park Headquarters to see the interesting displays of Sherpa lifestyle and culture, mountaineering in the park, flora and fauna.

After Breakfst we trek out of the village bowl and follow a small trail high above the Dudh Kosi River, where the views are incredible, behind to the west, the ridge of Nupla and Kwangde Himal (6194m), across the valley to the south, the towering ice- fluted walls of Thamserku (6623m), and Everest looms above ridge, a black triangular rock, “Sagarmatha.” On a small ridge across the valley, the monastery of Thyangboche can be seen, a  against the gigantic mountain background. Ascending towards Khumjung, visit the Everest View Hotel on route, where coffee or hot chocolate and views of Everest are the order of the day! We descend to Khumjung and after staying in the more westernized town of Namche Bazaar, these village make a welcome change. Here tourism has hardly changed the life of the Sherpas. The afternoon has been left free to assist with further acclimatization.

In the morning we descend to the village of Shanasa and then contour to Trashinga where the trail drops steeply to cross the Dudh Kosi at Phukitenga (3250m). A break is taken here by a series of water – driven paryer wheels. In the late morning we initially climb steeply before the trail levels out to ascend gradually towards Thyangboche. It is a steady ascent of approximately two and half hours through pine fir, black juniper and rhododendron forest. Thyangboche is set in a beautiful meadow, high on a ridge surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. A peaceful tranquil position, surely one of the wonders of the world and the Thyangboche Monastery is spectacularly situated. The monastery dominated by the gompa with its prayer flags and mani stones was founded in 1916 as a meditation centre.

From Thyangboche, we descend through a forest of birch, fir, juniper and rhododendron, to the nunnery at Deboche. Keep an eye open for Blood and Danghe pheasant and high on the steep slopes of the valley, Himalayan Thar (wild goats). We cross the Imja Khola, ascending gradually, with the beautiful Amadablam dominating the skyline, to visit the monastery. The afternoon walk follows a trail high above the Imja Khola. A little further upstream we cross the tributary stream and ascend over glacial moraines to our lodge in the ‘summer settlement’ of Dingboche.

Today we have a full day for acclimatization and exploring. Dingboche is a beautiful patchwork of small fields enclosed by stone walls protecting the crops of barley and potatoes from the cold winds. It is occupied mainly through the monsoon months, when large numbers of yaks are brought here to graze on the valley pastures. Those looking for a pleasant walk can head up the valley towards Chukung. The views are fantastic, the towering south face of Lhotse to the north, Island peak in the centre of the valley, and the fluted ice – walls of unnamed peaks that line the southern end of the valley from a hauntingly beautiful sight.

We are now well above the tree line and your journey today’s brings you to Dusa from where you descend to a stream at 4850m. We begin our climb of the Khumbu Glacier en route to the tea shops at Dughla. Continue along the moraine of the glacier, with views of Kala Pattar and Pumori to reach Lobuche at 4910m for your evening stay. Take time to rest and acclimatize for this unforgettable day.

Wonderful and rewarding day, second final destination of this trip to Everest Base Camp set out on the opposite the dreaded icefall-the most dangerous section of the Everest Summit. Rocky trail is in busy in April/May with porters carrying in supplies and the site is a riot of colorful tents perched on the ice. Everest Base Camp is the main camp for mountaineers and Trekkers feel very happy to be in Everest Base Camp as it makes a Life time memories for the adventure fulfillment. Retrace back from Everest Base Camp to Gorak Shep.

Early in the morning climb up to Kalapattar the third final destination of this trip to view sunrise awakening of the Himalayan chain along with 3600 Degree Outstanding spectacular view of numerous sky towering mountains including Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt.Lhotse Shar (8382m), Mt.Cho Oyu (8201m), Mt. Pumari (7165m), Mt. Khumbtse (6639m), Mt. Numptse (7864m), Mt. Amadablam (6814m), Mt.Changtse (7550m), Mt.Cholatse6335m), and many more other peaks that crowd the horizon the all directions. Down back to Grak Shep for breakfast and then retrace to Lobuche continuing south on the Everest-Lukla trai.

Early in the morning after breakfast we Proceed to Kongma-La Base Camp (5010m/16,437ft) to conquest the pass of Kongma-La (5,530m/18,143ft). To enjoy the remoteness of the area and absolute nature, we need to carry a fresh packed lunch, plenty of water along with some nuts, candy and chocolates. Gradually we enter a wide basin dotted with small freeze lake, the trail rises over loose scree gaining the Longma La after approximately 4 hour we leave the Lobuche. On the top of Kongma la, the prayer Buddhist flags as a mark of the pass. Panoramic view of Mountain with Icy lake and the Khumbu glacier, continue descent might quite difficult stage of the trek. Walking down on the trail, the view of Chhukung valley of Island peak including magnificent of surrounding mountain helps you to reduce your tiredness. Today’s final destination Chhuking waiting there to welcome you.

Today’s trip to Island peak base camp gradually goes up and fairly steep trail. The main line of the valley flank of the moraine from Lhotse and Lhotse Shar glacier. South West side of the Island peak need to cross through the Imjatse glacier moraines. Continue walking on a pleasant trail along with Imja-Khola.

Pre-climbing training will be conduct at Island Peak Base Camp (5190m/17,027ft). Our climbing guide trains the techniques of climbing, safety rule at glacier and ways of using and handing climbing gear such as the ice axe, climbing boots, crampons, harness ascender etc. If you are already experienced and well-trained mountaineers then it is not compulsory to take part in training session. Our main aim is to assist and guide the beginners who are willing to climb various peaks considering the safety measures in mind and we assure that it will boost the climbers to increase the confidence and climbing skill. The day will spend hiking to high camp and back to prepare mentally/physically for the next day summit.

Final destination of this trip will be an amazing day. The day start about 12AM (mignight) having breakfast before proceeding to summit the peak. We need to start very early because of strong winds and day sunlight of the mid-day may become obstacle for the successful summit. Gradually climbing up to the snowy peak on ice, our guide starts to fix a rope when feel its necessity. Fixed rope usually will be 300m to 400m though the length of rope depends on season and the crevasses. Normally Island peak does not require the ladder to cross crevasse but there are two newly formed crevasses about 4 meters wide may need to use ladders to cross them. A steep snow slop leads us onto the Summit ridge but comparatively beautiful and amazing walk. The 360-degree spectacular Panoramic view of hundreds of snowcapped mountains including Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Cho-Oyu (8201m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Makalu (8463), Mt. Pumari (7145m), Mt Ama-Dablam (6812m) numerous white peaks from the top of Island peak will be a life time memory. Snapshots dozens of photographs and incredible videos from the summit than we retrace to the base camp where some of crew of our team are waiting making delicious food and cake to celebrate a happy night on your successful Island peak summit.

The day will be a quire easier as we gradually descend to the lower altitude Passing through the beautiful Sherpa villages of Orsho and Shomare as a regular trekking trail. There is an alternative way to visit Gompa as it believed the oldest Gompa in Khumbu region in Upper Pangboche. Pangboche village with scenic view of surrounding towering mountains Ama-Dablam, Kongde, Kangtaiga, Thamaserku to the east and the tallest mountain of the earth Everest to the north east. Full day the trail follows the Imja-Tse river along with a wide fertile valley.

After Breakfast, gradually retrace down the trail to the side of Imja-Tse Khola and up through pine forest to Tengboche.  Visit to Tengboche monastery and nuns than after lunch quite steep descend to Funkitanga. Gentle walk through blanketed hillside by colorful rhododendron flowers and fragrant juniper trees makes you to feel as walking in Eden.  Few hundred meters Walk up to Sansa looking out for wildlife may encounter. Snow leopard, mountain goat “Himalayan Thar”, colorful pheasants “National Bird of Nepal” mainly can be seen while passing through the forest. An easy walk from Sasna toNamchebazar.

Steeply downward carefully retrace to the bridge. Crossing the bridges over fast flowing Dudh Koshi river than easy walk to Lukla.

After quiet long time into the mountain, we catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu. Beautiful mountain views on the way even fly back to Kathmandu. While arriving in Kathmandu, drive from airport to hotel first. If you want to do sightseeing some UNISCO site in Kathmandu, we will arrange the car and guide. Farewell dinner will be in a typical restaurant with different Nepali ethnic group dance. Shopping and Sightseeing will be in your choice otherwise you will take a leisure day either hotel or walking around city.

As this program, today is an end day of your adventure to Nepal. Our company representative will take you to the international airport for your final departure to your home country approximately 2:30 hour before your schedule flight. Or you may extend your other activities like Rafting, jungle safari etc on your choice.
