Surya Chaur day hiking is a moderate level day hike near Kathmandu, Nepal. The hike takes you through beautiful forests and meadows, offering stunning views of the Himalayan mountain range. The hike starts from Sundarijal, a small town located on the northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. After a steep ascent, you reach the beautiful Surya Chaur meadow, which is the highlight of the hike. The meadow is surrounded by dense forests and provides panoramic views of the mountain range. The hike takes about 6-7 hours to complete and is suitable for most hikers with a reasonable level of fitness.
8:00 am – Meet with your guide at your hotel in Kathmandu and drive to Tokha.
9:00 am – Start hiking from Tokha and begin your ascent through the pine and oak forest.
12:00 pm – Reach Surya Chaur and take a break to enjoy the stunning views and have a picnic lunch.
1:00 pm – Continue on the trail towards Shivapuri for a more challenging climb and even better views.
3:30 pm – Descend back down to Surya Chaur and take another break to relax and enjoy the scenery.
4:30 pm – Start hiking back down to Tokha.
6:00 pm – Arrive back at Tokha and drive back to your hotel in Kathmandu.
6:30 pm – End of the day trip.
