About Bungmati-Khokana:

Bungmati-Khokana is a twin-village located in the southern part of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. These two villages are located next to each other, and they offer a glimpse of traditional Nepali rural life and architecture.

Bungmati is the larger of the two villages and is believed to have been established in the 6th century AD. It is known for its traditional Newari architecture, which is characterized by intricately carved wooden windows, doors, and pillars. Bungmati is also home to the Rato Machindranath Temple, which is dedicated to the Hindu god of rain and fertility.

Khokana, on the other hand, is a smaller village known for its mustard oil production. The village has retained its traditional agricultural practices and is known for its mustard fields and oil mills. Khokana also has several ancient temples, including the Karya Binayak Temple and the Rudrayani Temple.

Together, Bungmati-Khokana is a popular destination for tourists interested in experiencing traditional Nepali village life and architecture. The villages are located about 10 km from Kathmandu and can be reached by local buses or taxis. Visitors can explore the narrow streets, visit the ancient temples, and watch the traditional oil production process.
